New Restyling Of A Hotel In Sicily
commerciale
Lipari, Province of Messina, Italy
Our hotel is located in the Aeolian archipelago, precisely on the Vulcano Island. It is a familiar structure built in the late 70’s and it has experienced various restyling during the years, unfortunately now there isn’t a homogenous style. We have undertaken a total re-modernization of the outdoor (frontages and gardens) for two years, remaining strictly faithful to the Aeolian style, retaining typical soft colors of these islands, and faithful to the constraints of the fine arts. Our hotel consists of a L-shape main structure on two levels in which there are the bedrooms and the living area (hall and restaurant), a pool area with osmosis system and a large wooden terrace (approx. 600sqm), a shady garden with dwarf palm trees, California fan palm, bird-of-paradise flower and agaves and an area used for organic garden.
The first floor has a wooden staircase in chestnut to access the area. We would like to keep this staircase while changing the look with interventions on the railing, readapting to the new style of the hotel, or keeping the same one.
The object of the request is a total restructuring and modernization in style and furnishings, maintaining the building structure. What we expect is to keep the“familiar” characteristic of our hotel with spaces that convey warmth, elegance, simplicity while remaining faithful to the Mediterranean /Aeolian style
-Bedrooms:
The “basic” rooms have already been restructured by recalling the white and blue and ceramics on the headboard (we have attached few picture to have a look of it).
The remaining rooms are divided as follows:
• 3 “Premium” rooms with balcony / terrace in wood (under construction of about 16 sqm with beds and sitting room) overlooking the pool and with a great view of the Vulcano (main attraction of the island)
• 6 “Standard” rooms on the raised floor with a balcony and overlooking the garden / pool area
• 6 “Standard-plus” rooms located on the first floor with balcony overlooking the open sulfur and tuff sea stack.
The rooms’ size varies among 14 and 16 sqm (except for the bathroom and balcony area of approximately 5 sqm)
Fixtures in chestnut, white doors and white shored up ceramic floors
We request different design according to the type of room (premium / standard and standard plus), also we would like to maintain the sober style of the “basic” rooms (already renovated) yet with a touch of chic.
-Restaurant area:
It is located in a large Aeolian-style terrace with columns (pulera) and sliding glass wall around the entire perimeter.
The restaurant is accessed from the Lobby area/bar with two sliding doors in wood and glass and with an entry/exit to the pool / garden area with lighted lanterns and spotlights.
The request for this area involves the creation of a buffet area for breakfast and a revisiting of the style.
The reception area /bar is located in a large hall which is accessed by a small stairway in lava. The required intervention for this area consists of a total re-modernization (possibly without demolishing the existing counters but still projecting a suitable coating to change the style); we would like to the have display niches of local products or our production to sell and also a conversation area. If possible we would like to retain the existing sofas, changing tissues and placing them in external areas.
-Corridors area:
We would like to have few ideas about objects, pictures, lamps that we could use as décor, also to have a runner to soften the sounds of footsteps and of the suitcases’ passage, this has to continue on the stairway entrance to the floors.
Considerations:
The whole island is covered by fine black sand
The hotel logo (that is on the mosaic floor in front of the reception) is the constellation of the Big Dipper from which the hotel takes its name because it is exactly placed under this constellation.
The initial letter of our family’s surname inspires the L-shape of the hotel.
I apologize for the delay due to work commitments abroad.
I am sure that with your contribution I will transform my hotel into the desired image of it.
