Dear Client, to begin with, I would like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to design the office building. The proposal was indeed challenging due to its unique site context. The cold climate and the winds prevailing throughout in Kashmir are the majoraspects to be addressed while keeping in mind , the functional and aesthetic requirements of the client. The concept of the project proposal emphasizes on 4 major aspects - Imageability and Branding, Bringing the outdoor indoor, Increasing productivity in the work environment through design, and User Centrism. The façade is treated to reflect the company's self through its vibrant turmeric yellow creating visual depth while blending with the exposed concrete staircase wall- resembling rawness, whites resembling spaciousness and the greenery resembling openness. The skin of the façade is made of perforated screens and hydroponic hangings of local foliage. The sloped green walls on the top screen the building from the harsh direct sun on the west while sending in maximized and diffused illumination. Speaking about the planning, the circulation revolves around the peripheral, straight stairway core from which the user can glance at the all activities of the floor. The spaces with minor or comparitively lesser activities are pushed towards the warehouse (south) wall and the major workspaces and activity zones are planned along the other walls. Natural light and ventilation are the prime foci. Also spaces are planned in such a way as to connect recreational zones with work zones , visually and in-terms of circulation so as to improve work efficiency. Open terraces and skylights are given at places to bring in natural light to every nook and corner. The interiors are designed to boost the brand imageability of the company. The vibrant turmeric yellow and earth-red terracotta texture are used in walls and furniture to bring in a cheerful environment. A modern- yet traditional touch in the expression of the design was followed to create a sense of belongingness. The private,studio house at the top with a lush green terrace garden and slope walled- lawn balcony, lets the client seclude himself indoor while inviting the nature outdoor.
