Considering your request regarding a functional kitchen that communicates with the living room but can also separates and thinking of a functional and modern redesign of your house, I suggest the following solution:
Kitchen:
A kitchen with two slighting doors that open and close depending of the needs of the family. Kitchen, living room and dining room can function as an open space when the doors are open and separated when the doors are closed, still leaving the kitchen functional for the family needs.
The washing machine is placed in the kitchen cabinets, but easily can be placed in the bathroom of living area if the bidet is not need it.
Living room
I posted your library as requested. There is plenty of room for a corner sofa and armchair.
Dining room
A comfortable table with six chairs on the left of the entrance. The window near the dining room assures the luminosity at the place. The spacious area allows the usage of an extensible dining table for more guests. The entrance divider defines the boundary of dining room area.
Master bedroom
The spacious master bedroom contains your wardrobe resized, a drawer and an “angolo trucco”.
Child’s room
A room that can meet the needs of the two children now but also for the future. One bed is located a little bit higher from the floor, creating storage place for kid’s toys or other items.
Main bathroom
Situated in zona notte. It is easily accessible, near the two bedrooms and it is provided with bathtub and sanitary.
Second bathroom
Situated in zona giorno, easily accessible, with sanitary and shower.
Sgabuzzino
A spacious sgabuzzino that can be used for the everyday needs but also for extra storing needs. Moreover, if the hydraulics system of your house allows it, the washing machine could be placed there.
