The aim of the design was to create a garden with livable, comfortable as well as functional spaces that can be lived in easily. There garden mainly consists of 3 zones; the green area, the Driveway area and the Middle section.
- First is “THE GREEN AREA” which is the main seating area. The western pergola (see Detail 1) is placed in this zone which contains the main sitting area and a barbeque. It is raised on a 3-level wooden deck and faces the green lawn with the existing Agrifoglio tree.
- Second is the “DRIVEWAY AREA”. The space for the cars was maintained in order to take up to 3 cars. The flooring of this area was changed into cobblestone, a resilient material as well as being aesthetically pleasing. A raised and shaded seating area was placed at the end corner, the eastern pergola (see Detail 3), placing the old one. The dog house remained in the same place.
- The third zone is the “MIDDLE SECTION”. This area links the 2 other zones together with concrete pavers flooring. 2 Cycas plants were maintained and replaced in order to emphasize the entrance door. In addition, a small shaded bench was placed to make this zone livable as well without overcrowding the circulation (see Detail 2).
Notes:
- All finishing materials were chosen in order to be as function as possible, and at the same time adds an attractive feel to the space (see Hardscape chart).
- All Plants were taken into consideration to be pet friendly.
- The 2 pergolas (D1 & D3) are “bioclimatic pergolas” which takes into account the weather conditions– rain, wind and sun.
