Proposal
The main goal of the design was to create an elegant and sober space, sophisticated and accurate. We were inspired by the concept of loft, willing to create luminous and large spaces, with natural materials and a contemporary style. To do that, we propose some small demolitions, (represented in the plan beside the architectural plan), that we consider important:

-to connect the spaces in a physical and visual way, removing the barriers (door) that limit social interaction. For exemple, in the morning is it possible to comfortably read the newspaper on the sofa while the kids have breakfast in the kitchen
-to improve the luminosity and the cross ventilation, therefore the salubrity and the comfort of the house
-to improve the visual connexion with the garden, to open the house to the nature in a way to expand the interior space including the exteriors into the daily life of the house

Level 0
We kept the direct access to the living room from the exterior. We propose a large and bright space, with walls and skirting boards all in white. We gave the right importance to the fireplace, creating a dark metal strip, that includes a small storage for the wood. Above the fireplace, the tv can stay without being the center of attention. The table in the lounge area is a folding one, so it can be adapted to the number of people.
The access to the kitchen is made by three large steps, where children can stay and play.
Between the living room and the kitchen, we propose a small cabinet/wardrobe for the coats, the shoes or the cleaning stuff. The kitchen is composed by a central island made in stone, and a full-height cabinet with all the embedded appliances (frigo, oven, microwave) and another countertop in the same stone. On the opposite side, a small round table (5 people) for informal meals.
The new openness of the spaces improves the links between the kitchen and the rest of the house, creating a unique and continuous space.

Level 1
At the first floor, we propose less demolitions, because the space is already well distributed. We propose to move the door of the children’s bathroom from the main circulation, to give it more privacy and also gain some additional space inside it. And a construction of a wall to integrate the wall mounting fixing frame for a suspended toilet, bidet and also to support a basin.
In this floor we also propose bright spaces, all in white This choice is also lead by the simpleness of the maintenance, being the white peint the most common one. For the floor, in the renders of the project we propose a new bright oak finishing, to make the spaces be brighter and so make them look bigger. Anyway, if the existing floor finish is kept, we propose to renovate it and to use the same kind of material in the other spaces, to uniform all the spaces of the house (including the stairs).
The spaces will be a bit darker, but the result will be fine in any way. We suggest to keep the white walls white in both cases, so the spaces will look higher.
In the rooms, we propose full-height wooden wardrobes, that we propose to leave with its natural color but can also be white lacquered (according to the walls, to be more discreet). In the children’s room, we propose a long table underneath the windows, so they can work always with the natural light. These wide shelf can have some storage underneath, like drawers or cabinets, to keep the working area always free for usage

Level 2
A large bedroom and a bathroom with natural materials and finishes. In the little remaining space above the stairs, we propose a bookshelf and a wardrobe.

Level -1
In this floor we also propose natural materials and finishes, as in the rest of the project. The stairs are in the same material of the floor. We keep the laundry room in the same position: we propose only to move the water boiler to hide it inside a cabinet, where it is possible to access when necessary. Next to the laundry, the big storage. Then, a big space composed by an informal lounge area, with a tv and poufs, and the fitness area, with al the sport equipments.
In the wall where there are some exhaust pipes, we propose to remake them, also to have the bathroom at the same level of the other spaces. The make room for the new pipes to be well insulated and respect the right inclinations, we propose to double the wall and to cover the false wall with mirrors, that will make the room look bigger.



We must say that the design proposal is based on the analysis and the interpretation of the given program, so some secondary decorative elements can be replaced following the taste of the client. In any case, we suggest a very sober, simple and natural base, that can be seen as a blank board that allows the clients to add anything they want without lowering the quality of the spaces.
