With the design I tried to create a variety of spaces for the various uses of the house. Comfy and warm spaces for the family on holiday, spaces to use with the extended family when they join you and more elegant spaces to use when having an event or more formal dinner with friends. But more than anything I tried to achieve this by focusing the design, and the costs of the renovation, in the spaces that will be used most whilst leaving as much of the existing house (flooring,etc) to reduce the cost of renovation without sacrificing the quality of the design.
