AleMi Chair

When reading the contest’s description, the idea of having wood as a main material was inspiring for creating the main concept of the chair. With the aim of having a clear project with identity, the idea of making an imagery referenced to a tree seemed as a good way to represent the client’s wills.

The three-legged chair, made entirely out of wood, recreates a conceptual format of a tree in the backrest – ironically highlighted with the colour black. This backrest is composed by two big branches, that divides into other two smaller ones, that once again divides into two even smaller pieces. The whole composition of branches simulates the tree image that wants to be transposed through the project, also as a symbol of identity, that makes the chair standout from the ordinary ones. All the commodity angles were also metrically calculated so the chair would have the comfort factor. So as, the backrest’s smaller branches also compose, with a playful angularity, a comfortable rest for the head.

The round seat, with a black pillow rest applied, with the two front legs are made out of raw wood, which makes a visual contrast with the back leg and backrest. Over all, the chair transposes the essence of the designers, with all the symbols well placed to recreate the tree metaphor; materials respecting the environment and the client’s desires to the use of wood; a very strong visual impact as a sale object, which is a very important point of the design, once the aim of the contest is to sell the chair; and the identity factor that makes the AleMi Chair an exceptional design project.
