The most important decision in this design was whether to have a main bedroom which is spacious, well-lit and has a good sense of privacy, or whether to split it into two tiny bedrooms to be used by Monica and Antonello in one, and the two children on the other. Frankly, this latter option would have had discomfort, lack of light and extremely squeezed sleeping rooms. (This is not what is desirable when there is a lake nearby, which is pleasant to look at and live close to - therefore, the design maximized on the single bedroom option). The design is modernist, and combines white, black and brown colour schemes, using black marble, white paint and wood o various furniture. The kitchen takes a linear, open arrangement and is placed on a raised level. This level is 400mm above the living room level and 200mm below the bedroom level to give an interesting play of heights. The bathroom is also raised to this level and the space underneath can be used for new pipework and electrical conduits. It is hoped that the new design will inspire happiness, freedom and friendliness.
