Dear Client.

The project consists of three different “bungalow” units. The units are connected internally by a series of partition walls that can be opened if the units are rented together (see picture 3).

In addition, the common space/entrance can serve as a more meaningful connection between the units. If there is a single “party” renting all the units it may serve as a common place for dining or relaxing together under the canopy of the olive-tree, which is placed as an centrepiece at the entrance. It may also be used as an informal meeting space if the units are rented separately.

The form of the building are fragmented to give the units their own expression. This is done to reduce the overall scale and visual impact of the project. Different levels between the floors are established to follow the landscape as closely as possible. The building is placed on top of pillars and plinths.

Due to the size and functionality of the layout, four trees have to be moved. But I have positioned small individual verandas to enable the residents to have their own space in connections with their own olive-trees close by. The olive-trees are used as a main quality in the project. If you look at the plan (picture 1) the individual trees that are most important are coloured green.

There is an option to dig out the terrain under unit 3 and have a garage there with the same footprint as the above floor (the units can be identified by looking at the room names). Though in this version of the project I propose to preserve the landscape and establish an outdoor parking space instead.

Cladding will consist of natural woods, one tone is light brown, and a darker colour helps with the overall ambition of softening up the visual impact of the building.

To preserve the views for the existing building in the site, the roof is a flat parapet roof.

Hopefully the project will be crafted with skill and care. The general construction could be a simple timber-frame construction. This will result in a modern and a comfortable space.

PS. The material (jpeg) submitted is A2 format.

Kind regards,

The Architect.
