As requested the project provides to make a dual purpose:
A. Attic plus right side of 4th floor: as a secondary apartment for the family…
B. Remaining left side of the 4th floor: creates a indipendent studio.
In Milan building and health law authorize, for single dwelling/studio (other unit), a minimum surface of 30 Sq m walkable area, and a minimum surface of 14 Sq m for double or master bedrooms. In the project there is a double version of 4th floor plan that provides about two alternative solution.
According with client’s request, the attic was arranged with:
- a terrace in the corner of the roof;
- the new staircase;
- iron pillar demolition;
- roof modification with a raised part.
(all solutions, and its locationing, was verified by the client about feasibility structural study).
The attic was thought as an open space with kitchen, dining and living funcions without solution of spatial continuity. The corner terrace is a natural gate viewing roofs of Milan.
