Stanley mediterranean landscape

The proposal is conceived as a timeless Mediterranean / Italian outdoor environment that feels naturally connected to the historic Spanish Revival character of the house. The overall design prioritizes calm and carefully framed views throughout the property, allowing each outdoor space to feel inviting, balanced and visually connected to the architecture and landscape.

The planting palette intentionally remains restrained and low-maintenance, avoiding excessive vegetation in favor of a more authentic and sustainable atmosphere. Olive trees, agaves, lavender and salvia create a soft Mediterranean character while ensuring durability and ease of maintenance over time.

Particular attention is given to the hardscape composition through the use of natural materials and curved architectural lines that reinforce the romantic identity of the project. Natural stone is integrated into the crowning of the steps and key architectural transitions in order to strengthen the historic Mediterranean expression of the outdoor spaces. Gravel and natural stone elements are also distributed throughout the landscape to define planting areas with texture, warmth and visual continuity.

A natural stone coping is proposed on top of the new terrace wall. Beyond reinforcing the Mediterranean aesthetic of the project, the coping provides important protection against water infiltration and weathering, helping preserve the durability and longevity of the wall over time. It also creates a refined architectural finish consistent with traditional Italian exterior design.

The rear pergola area is designed as a warm and intimate gathering space centered around the fire feature. Movable cushions and removable seating elements are proposed to improve comfort during cooler evenings while allowing flexibility and practical maintenance. These elements can easily be stored or relocated during rain in order to protect the fabrics from moisture and premature wear, ensuring both comfort and long-term durability.

The result is a warm, elegant and timeless landscape designed to age naturally with the architecture while remaining functional, sustainable and easy to maintain.
