During my studies for my Post Graduate Dipolma in Architecture I was employed in this part time position with Jacobs. My duties were the production of presentation graphics and 3D modeling. The main project I worked on during this time was the refurbishment of City Varieties for which I produced the publicity images.

While working for Jacobs, I gained extensive knowledge and experience in the design and delivery of civic and cultural facilities. I gained this experience through working on a wide variety of projects, ranging from small refurbishment schemes to multi-billion pound rail developments. These projects required me to work both as part of and as leader of multi-disciplinary teams to successfully meet client goals. My main achievement during this time was been the design and delivery of the new headquarters and dance theatre for Northern Ballet in Leeds. This has since won several awards for design excellence, including SCALA building of the year.

After registering as a British Architect in 2012 I continued my work at Jacobs, I continued to build on my previous experience as part of the West Yorkshire Police PFI project team. Initially working on the Carr Gate Training Facility I managed the delivery of tender stage information to the contractor. This required me to programme and ensure the delivery of design packages to achieve our client’s deadlines. Following my successful delivery of these packages I was promoted to lead Architect of Leeds Divisional Headquarters. In performing my duties as project leader I was able to gain significant experience in delivering complex schemes and client liaison. In addition, I have been able to hone my ability to be an effective part of a team though working within the larger PFI project.

After moving to Hong Kong in September 2013, I found a suitable position to continue my Architectural career at Integrated Design Associates. Having worked at Jacobs, a large international company, I wanted to broaden my experience at a smaller design led practice; IDA matched this aspiration. After joining the firm, I worked as part of the local team in delivering our regeneration master plan for the Tai Kok Tsui area of Kowloon. As part of this scheme I was involved in the evolution of the overall concept for the area and worked to deliver two mixed use schemes which form part of the master plan. In conjunction with my project duties, I also helped introduce BIM and Revit to the office and use it on both of my mixed use projects. In addition, the adoption of BIM has enabled the office to deliver one large airport scheme and bid for another.

Senior Chartered Architect

After two years at IDA, I was promoted to Senior Architect. In this position I continue to work as part of our team in progressing the Tai Kok Tsui, Square Mile master plan, specifically overseeing and developing our design deliverables for two of the residential and retail schemes. Eltanin, the first building, is currently on-site and I am working with our client and consultant partners towards its completion in 2017. In tandem, I am developing our tender packages for the second building which will be completed in 2018.

After my time at IDA I moved on to work at Aedas. I worked as part of the team delivering the new Terminal 2 Building at Hong Kong International Airport.
