HOME - STUDIO FOR ARCHITECT/S

The building, entirely built in wood, is ideally placed in Subiaco, an ancient Roman city
on the “Via Sublacense”, which connects the two important consular “via Casilina” and “via Tiburtina”. The project comes within an important natural (presence of Aniene river) and historical (presence of an ancient medieval wall) context. These elements are fundamental to the building itself. The building has a raised ground floor above the ground level.
The building’s volume is articulated in relation to the ancient travertine wall that joined the project. The building is close to the pre-existence without ever touching it and almost all its dimensions are multiples of 60 cm, the thickness of the wall. The central element of the building is the open skylight on the east and west sides placed in correspondence to the vertical connections.
