Villa Rd. Community Center (University Project)

Villa Rd. Community Center Proposal. Located in Overport, Durban. ( South Africa) The aim of this project was to provide a community center that gives back to the residence and surrounding community by providing facilities to host events, festivals and places where locals could gather freely, interact and trade as well as offer healthcare services . Along with that it enhances security through public surveillance and active street edges that promotes the interaction and diversification of different cultures and ethnic groups. Through design strategies, population demographics and history of the region the goal was to provide a sense of identity that the residents of the area could identify with and feel proud to associate with their day to day lives, improving the standard of living and the quality of life to those found in the surrounding areas.
