Student High-rise (University Project)

Student Accommodation High-rise proposed for Westville University campus, Durban. (South Africa) Due to a lack of student accommodation, it was proposed to have a high-rise designed to accommodate for students that attend the university found on site. The design aimed at having retail and commercial spaces on the ground and first floor to serve those whom commute past on a day to day basis as well as those who reside in the residence, bringing in business activity and allowing for economical sustainability as well as promoting mixed use activity. The dynamic design and unique forms and volumes in and around the residence is intended to inspire and encourage creativity and to contrast that of the surrounding modernist university buildings, bringing a breath of fresh air to those whom reside in the high-rise.
