housing - small-apt
The Wooden Igloo is a modern and elegant house for couples, and a natural playground for kids. The Igloo was treated as a shell that encloses an independent cylindrical volume, almost floating at the center of the dome. Double height was maintained along the edges to alternate high and low spaces, to create games of lights and shadows, contrasts with colors and textures, spaces for kids to use their imagination and for adults to relax. At the entrance the space opens with an indoor garden to the right, with plants and hanging oval seats; a wardrobe is placed under the staircase that leads to the first floor. The staircase follows the curve of the cylindrical volume, as well as the curvy edge of the Dome.
To the right, hidden by a high wall, is the living area. The living, dining room and the kitchen share a modern, central fireplace and the double height. Big windows connect this space to the outdoor terrace, that includes a dining area - next to the kitchen- and a sitting area with BBQ in the center.
This part of the house is located in the South-West corner, but the Dome could be turned according to the site where it is built.
In the Northern side there is a big studio, a bathroom and a laundry room - with direct access to the garden. The studio has no ceiling and the void could become a playing-space with a hanging net. Eventually this room could be converted in bedroom. Upstairs there is one bathroom, a double bedroom for kids and one master bedroom with a walking closet and a private toilet. Both bedrooms have big windows facing the living area and the studio, in addition those placed at the top of the dome.
To use three adjectives this house is unconventional, young and sophisticated...Perhaps your future house!
