In this project, I focus on the industrial style while keeping the Sicilian style in mind due to its presence in the house. I used new industrial materials such as wood, metal, and glass bricks, and by working with the grid of the existing floor plan I was able to divide the home into two distinct spaces: a night space and a day space.
------------------
For the night space:
"Bathroom": Inspired by Sicilian-style bathrooms but updated with industrial touches. Materials like glass bricks and wood give the atmosphere both warmth and strength. The design includes a separate shower cabinet that balances the Sicilian identity with the industrial style — this combination highlights the true potential of the house.
"Study Area": A desk facing the window allows natural light to guide focus, while cabinets along the remaining walls provide storage. The goal is to create a functional and flexible space for both studying and working from home, offering possibilities for children’s homework as well as parents’ remote work.
"Master Bedroom": I tried to maximize the layout to give the parents a spacious area. A semi walk-in closet is defined by a dressing table (coiffeuse), marking the borders of the dressing zone. To enhance comfort, I also included two chairs and a small table, adding a touch of luxury to the atmosphere.
------------------
For the day space, which includes the living room, dining room, kitchen, a small bathroom, and storage, I developed four variations:
"-1-First Variation": Inspired by old Sicilian houses where the living room is the central patio of the home (here covered with a roof). I introduced arches throughout the circulation, leading toward the kitchen, living room, and night space, while still maintaining privacy for the bedrooms. The diving room and kitchen are directly connected to create smooth circulation without crossing through the central living area, keeping the living room more defined and bordered.
"-2-Second Variation": Maintains nearly the same layout, but relocates the bathroom to the center. This creates a natural separation with a wall for the TV, improving circulation through the lining room and providing easier access to the bathroom for people in both the dining and living areas.
"-3-Third Variation": I kept the concept of the roofed patio and arches that link the Sicilian character with industrial materials. Here, I changed the positions of the living and dining rooms, creating a more intimate and private living area. I also shifted the shower entrance from the right side to the front, revealing new potential for the space.
"-4-Fourth Variation": Based on the third model, but with the second bathroom repositioned. This adjustment allowed me to increase the width of the kitchen, making it more efficient while balancing the proportions of the living room.
Ps: Please note that these images are only presentations of how the designer imagines the space. They serve as references that are close to how the design should look. Since 3D rendering was not part of the project requirements, designers are not allowed to submit additional work beyond what the client purchased.
These images are included simply to complete the idea expressed in the floor plan and to illustrate the general atmosphere of how the chosen style could be applied, using selected references and quick rendering tools.
