Via Marzabotto Novara

Project Statement
This renovation project reimagines an existing three-bedroom apartment as a flexible, contemporary home designed to respond to different stages of life.
The brief called for two single bedrooms, a master bedroom, a dedicated laundry cabinet, and a kitchen and living area that could function together while allowing the kitchen to be separated when required. The new layout responds to these requirements by reorganizing the apartment around a more functional and fluid sequence of spaces.
At the heart of the proposal, the kitchen and living area are connected through a glazed partition, maintaining visual continuity and natural light while allowing the kitchen to operate as an enclosed space when needed. This shared living zone extends toward the generous terrace, strengthening the relationship between interior and exterior and creating a larger social area for everyday life and gatherings.
The master bedroom has been conceived as a private suite, incorporating an independent en-suite bathroom and a walk-in dressing area. The two additional bedrooms provide flexibility for children, guests, study, or caregiving needs. A dedicated laundry cabinet is integrated discreetly into the circulation area, also accommodating the relocated energy meter/counter, which could be repositioned as part of the renovation.
Rather than designing the apartment around a single household profile, the proposal aims to create a home capable of adapting over time. It can comfortably support a young couple or growing family, while equally responding to the needs of an older couple living independently and welcoming their children or grandchildren.
The result is a three-bedroom home where privacy, flexibility and shared living coexist, with a clear spatial hierarchy and a stronger connection between the kitchen, living spaces and terrace.
The design is conceived not simply as a renovated apartment, but as an adaptable home for different generations and changing ways of living.
