I was trying to arrange the space in a comfortable way and give to it some individual touch. Kitchen contains a lot of places for storage. Since the ceiling height allows I recommend you to inbuilt two lines of upper cabinets. Wall panel above the door visually makes the door higher. One cabinet door can be used as a chalk board to make notes on it (you just need to use special graphite paint).
I think contrast colors like reds and deep blues together with whites will make the room more vivid.
Also recommend to underline decorative elements on the ceiling with contrast color.
Hanging shelf above dining table can be used as additional surface for kitchen stuff or plants (if you have some :) )
I chose quite soft sofa for your project, but you can replace it with any other alternative one (according to your likes and budget).
