housing - small-apt
DESCRIPTION
Our concept is based on the definition and reorganization of the interior space: according to the client’s requests, this flat will be rearranged in order to create a welcoming, bright and modern home for a couple or for four guests (if the apartment will be rent), in order to meet as many needs as possible.
First of all, we started our concept with some considerations regarding spaces and current setting of the whole flat. Gathering from the client’s description and photos, now the inner space is composed of a large hallway that divide the living area (on the left of the entrance) and the sleeping area (on the right). Between these areas, there is a small bath and a technical compartment with a gas boiler for heating and there will be a washing machine underneath.
Our project idea aims to re-arrange the apartment without masonry works, in order to make the best use of the available space, close to the client’s request. Anyway, we have also suggested an idea that implicates some masonry works, for the purpose of having a master bedroom with a bigger wardrobe and storage space: the adoption or not of this solution will also depend on the structural design of the building seeing that we don’t have a structural plan and we don’t know if all the thick walls are bearing walls or not.
SOLUTION “A”
Near the entrance on the right, there will be a wardrobe / storage unit for coats, linen closet, vacuum cleaner and other detergents, office materials, foldable chairs etc.
On the left, there will be the kitchen and living areas: in this solution, we find inspiring the idea of combine a traditional straight-line kitchen (with fairly short layout) and the living area (TV bench and other medias) with a touch of youthful, unconventional personality. All the essential functions will take place in a compact composition, suitable for small spaces and using tall wall units of 103 cm, vertical space can be exploited to increase storage capacity. In this way, next to the kitchen there will be enough space for a dining table for six people and pendant lamp above, an armchair, a shelving unit / bookcase and a large sofa bed with rotating elements. It allows you to get beds by simple rotation of the seat of one of the elements that compose it: each element is in fact perfectly combinable and can be separated at any time.
As stated, on the left of the entrance there will be the sleeping area and the terrace.
The master bedroom will have three wardrobes and an ottoman bed: under the slatted base, which can be lifted, this bed hides a practical storage space.
The single bedroom will be composed of a wide wardrobe, a large office desk and a sofa bed that can be transformed in a large single or double bed. The bed will be pulled out by pulling down the back with a mechanism allowing the opening and closing in a single and simple movement, without removing the cushions which remain fixed to the structure.
Outside, on the terrace, there will be a relax area with modular sofas and a large dining table.
Following the client’s requests, the bathroom and the technical compartment will not take part of this renovation.
SOLUTION “B”
Similar to the “A”, this solution suggests a different arrangement of the sofa and dining table.
SOLUTION “C”
In this case, we suggest a different arrangement of the kitchen / dining area with a conventional straight-line kitchen and a separate TV bench. Even this configuration aims to provide a completely functional, practical solution to the needs of the kitchen as a working area.
SOLUTION “D”
Similar to the “A”, this solution suggests a different arrangement of the master bedroom and some masonry works in order to enlarge the entrance of the room and create a spacious walk-in closet.
The solutions here proposed have to be considered as a concept: they are very flexible in terms of colors, placement, finishes and may be prone to variations or adjustments if you will decide to adopt one of these solutions or mixing them. Further specifications might be taken in the next step of the project.
