In this project I tried to create open space like you requested. In the western half of the apartment entry, lounge, kitchen, dining, and living area all create one big open space with the exception of storage room near the entry (which is basically a room in which you can put random stuff and it also hides the back door from view) and guest toilet. In the other half of the apartment I created two bedrooms with walk-in closets and en-suite bathrooms.
