The way I organized two levels of your living area is this:

LOWER LEVEL
Kitchen stayed as planned, open space, with counter and two stools. From the entrance of apartment, I have formed entrance area with closet behind the door (also in staircase) which is divided with semitransparent wooden beam partition (painted white). Then you enter small living area with TV and small library, for daytime activities. Dining area is next to terrace door, and it acquires biggest space, since there`s extendible dining table (for six to twelve people).
UPPER LEVEL
This level is comfortable living room, with TV and stereo set. This space is practically 4.3m x 4.8m and can fit big dining room OR living room, not both.
