housing - small-apt
Dear Marco,
Thank you for posting for the competition. I have enjoyed working on a design solution for your request. You specified a modern design with a touch of industrial. I hope in these designs I have responded to your requirements. I have kept just under the budget, but that is to leave room for additional costs such as painting, bathroom, etc.
Living room - I have moved the layout to be the TV area with the sofa by the entrance, leading into the dining room. The reason for this is that the entrance area does not receive a lot of light, so it will be comfortable for watching TV any time of day. It is also more welcoming as guests come in for them to sit down on the sofa, rather than a dining table which is more rigid and less welcoming.
The dining area is moved to where the French windows are, a light and airy space.
To give the impression of separation between the two areas and to utilise the pillar, I have put shelves on both sides of it. The shelves are an industrial black metal frame, creating a division, as well as storage for books/ornaments, and still allows light to flow through the room. The pillar has been painted chalk black and can be written on for the personal and modern touch.
I have placed the TV on the wall to make more room on the unit for DVD player, etc. I have used a narrow unit to minimise space. It is attached to the wall and is lit underneath to create a floating effect in order to lighten the room. Less heavy items in the floor make the space appear bigger and more open.
Descriptions for the bedroom, study and bathroom are on the presentation boards.
I have based all measurements on the indication that the doors are 900mm wide. Due to no scale drawings being provided is it not possible to have the measurements exactly precise. If you find that some furniture specified does not fit the existing space, the designs provide the concept, similar furniture can be found in varying size.
I hope you enjoy transforming this apartment into a home you will love!
Kind regards,
Alisa
