Description

This house is rationally ordered on a 1600m grid. The large courtyard is the focus of the family space. In this scheme, the courtyard is divided into three outdoor 'rooms'. A paved patio/portico immediately accessible from the dining room, garage, and living room is the entertaining/outdoor dining 'room'. The children's rooms open up directly into a grassy room, for their play to flow openly between bedroom and outside, encouraging play. The double room is divided by a curtain, so that the children can enjoy a larger play area until bedtime, then draw the curtain. Once they are old enough, a wall can be put up quite simply. The bedrooms are also divided by millwork cabinetry, not structural walls. Therefore, once the kids move out, these rooms can be easy transformed. The Master bedroom is divided between the bathroom/change area area and sleeping room. The bathroom opens out into a private garden for the parents. * Please note than the column grid divides these outdoor rooms, the dashed line between the columns indicates that shutter windows or curtain could be put up to further divide the outdoor spaces. The pantry laundry room also opens up direcltly to the outdoor patio space, which can allow clothes to be dried outside. The attic will be accessible from the pantry/laundry room.
