Description

Dear Client
Here is our proposal for your multipurpose room

The most important aspects of any room are its lighting and ceiling height, as these greatly determine its potential for use.

Since the only light source available is the french balcony door, the room is effectively divided in two zones, the light zone, near the door, and the darker zone, deeper to the centre of the apartment. So, since we couldnt place the work desk right next to the door, as it needs to be free for movement, this is why we placed it about one meter to the side, this space is excellent for a workstation, as the low ceiling provides little alternative uses (using it for deep shelves would be uncomfortable as the ceiling is too low to be reache whilst standing). The desk is positioned so between the door and lowest ceiling part that it has access to the light, needed for work (we presume it is oriented at least mildly southward) and the shelves at the rooms end, that can be quite comfortably reached whilst seated (the height of a seated person is around 140cm) the roof slope is at around 1.80meters here, so it is suitable for getting up from the chair, whilst it wouldnt be as suitable for getting out of bed (stretching and so requires more space for movement). With the workstation located here, the space for the bed has to be near the entrance door, opposite the french door. This way if you are facing eastward (we couldnt determine for sure), the morning sun will help wake you up and keep the space fresh. The rest of the room is filled with shelves, both low and high, the area on the other side of the entrance door(opposite the bed) is a good place to put a small coffee table and the two Corbusier chairs, to make a small reading area, connected to the living area on the other side.

The furniture we chose for you is from IKEA, so it is accessible and easy to get. Another reason are the two Corbusier chairs. Designer and special furniture pieces are best placed along more plain pieces, this way they stick out best and give a nice contrast to the room, as well as an even focus around it, namely the workstation is one focal point, with its low ceiling and office equipment, the french door is the main source of light, and so this part of the room would be completely neglected. But placing these two chairs here, so they are visible from the living room when the door is open, with a small (maybe circular/round, since the bookshelves are mostly rectangular) coffe table between them will give the room more appeal, and it will even the impression it leaves as a whole.

The colours in the room are inspired by the Corbusier chairs, and are very close to the pallette he used in his buildings, namely the Unite d'Habitacion in Marseilles, with blue, orange and yellow, which we represented in the colourful wall shelves

We hope you like our project

Gentile cliente
