Description

The main idea was to emphasize the living area of the apartment, imagining it as a large open space that includes the living room with its sofa bed, and the dining area. The extremely small size of the apartment (35 square meters, which is below the minimum standard of 38 square meters for a studio apartment for two people according to the Italian regulation), made us rule out the possibility of a second guest bathroom at the entrance. The living/dining room is surrounded on two sides by a customized built-in wardrobe that includes also a kitchenette. The bedroom is accessible through a sliding door flush with the wall. The bedroom is minimalist, with a double bed (160 x 205 cm) and another customized built-in wardrobe that also hides the electric boiler. For space reasons, the bedside tables are build in directly in the headboard of the bed, that grows over the bed becoming a false ceiling that hides the lighting system. We have also given much prominence to the bathroom, solved with a large shower in masonry, which, in our opinion, is more practical than a bath of the same size, allowing us to give more space to a possible cupboard below and next to the sink. The air conditioning system is completely hidden in the living room false ceiling. The air is spread in the living area through vents hidden in the ceiling, while in the bedroom is spread through a built-in grill located above the door to the living room. No air conditioning machines are visible. The lighting system was all resolved with built-in systems in the ceiling, avoiding hanging lamps or floor lamps for reasons of space as well as aesthetic. The finishes are mostly light ones, ranging from oak parquet or lacquered wood white or taupe.
